Job Summary
Pop-A-Lock Maritimes is expanding its commercial door automation and access control team. We install and maintain automatic door operators, electrified door hardware, and access control systems for building owners, contractors, and security integrators across mainland Nova Scotia. This role is not about key cutting or lockouts. Instead, it focuses on installing and repairing commercial door hardware, automatic door operators, electrified access-control systems, and low-voltage control systems.

Two Candidate Pathways. We are open to two types of candidates:

1. Experienced Field Service Technicians

You may be a fit if you have experience with automatic door operators; access control or security systems; electric strikes, maglocks, or motorized exit devices; low-voltage electrical work; door closers, exit devices, storefront doors, wood doors, or steel doors.

Experienced candidates should qualify for the higher end of the pay range.

2. Junior Technicians / Recent Graduates

You may be a fit if you are a recent NSCC or NBCC graduate or an early-career candidate with formal training as an electronics or electrical technician, electronics or electrical engineering technologist, electromechanical technology, or low-voltage technician, involving automation, controls, or related technical work.

We can train the door hardware and field installation aspects of the role, but we are especially interested in candidates who already understand basic electrical, electronic and/or networking concepts.

Previous field service experience
Can work independently without needing step-by-step instructions
Take pride in clean, reliable work
Are dependable, punctual, and safety-minded
Can follow shop drawings, schematic diagrams and manufacturer instructions
Are comfortable working at construction sites
Can communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and team members
Are adept at configuring Windows PCs and troubleshooting networking issues

Requirements

Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license
Able to pass a security check
Reliable transportation to/from the office – company truck supplied during work hours
Comfortable with lifting, drilling, using tools, using ladders, and physically active work
Post-secondary training or equivalent background and experience
