Electrical & Instrumentation (E & I) Coordinator
Spartan is seeking an individual to fulfill the responsibilities of an E & I Coordinator to join the Field Operations team. This role is primarily responsible coordinating, maintaining and optimizing all electrical and instrumentation systems, ensuring compliance with standards, effective maintenance practices, accurate technical documentation, timely troubleshooting and cost-effective resource planning.
This position is based at the Alder Flats Cryogenic Gas Plant, located near Rocky Mountain House and Drayton Valley, Alberta, working 5 days on/2 days off (8-hour days). Being on call and working overtime will be required.
What You Will Do
- Coordinate all electrical and instrumentation activities
- Plan and implement preventive and predictive maintenance procedures and guidelines for all electrical and Instrumentation equipment
- Oversee compliance with codes, standards and quality procedures applicable to electrical and instrumentation systems
- Manage and control technical documentation, including electrical drawings, instrumentation diagrams, inspection and calibration reports
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex electrical and instrumentation failures, determining corrective actions with the goal of minimizing production downtime
- Oversee budgeting and procurement by assisting with estimating cost, operating budgets and defining spare parts inventory
- Ensure all electrical and instrumentation work is done to code and in compliance with all safety regulations
- Supervise any contractors and vendors brought to site for maintenance work and act as liaison between operations, management and contractors
- Keep all tools and required equipment for maintenance in excellent working condition
- Ensure Plant Manager is informed of daily, weekly, monthly and ongoing/ad-hoc tasks
- Participate in frequent hazard and risk assessments to identify and mitigate risks in a dynamic operational environment
- Attend and participate in health and safety meetings
Who You Are
- Journeyman Electrician and/or Journeyman Instrumentation and Control Technician
- Minimum 10 years of related industry experience
- Strong knowledge of DCS, PLC, HMI and ISCADA process systems and able to do programming on those pieces of equipment
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Positive attitude with excellent interpersonal skills
- Highly organized with ability to manage a demanding workload
