We are seeking experienced and dedicated Equipment Operators to join our Municipal Division for the 2026 season. We are hiring for multiple operator roles and are looking for individuals who are reliable, safety‑focused, and committed to quality workmanship. Projects will be located throughout Alberta, and successful candidate must be available to spend extended time away from home.
What is the role?
Below is the combined list of responsibilities for all four operator positions.
Skid Steer / Loader Operator
- Operate a skid steer
- Fill out equipment check list before shift
- Ensure that safety, compliance, environmental and DOT requirements are always followed
- Load and unload construction materials, move to work areas
- Support Equipment Operators and Co-workers
- Confirm material accuracy and documentation
- Oiling, greasing, and cleaning site equipment
- Other duties as assigned
Reclaimer Operator
- Operate Wirtgen 2500, Wirtgen 250, Wirtgen 240, and Cat 250/350 machines competently
- Daily Maintenance on Mixers Machine (Grease machine, Change Teeth as required)
- Monitor depths and consistency of mix gradation for asphalt pulverization. Monitor water injection levels and oil injection levels for cement stabilization and foaming operation
- Physical labourer required
- Some out-of-town work is expected
- Perform additional tasks as required
Gomaco Operator
- Responsible for safe loading and unloading of machine from a low bed trailer
- Mounting and dismounting slip form molds and trimmers
- Sets up machine according to offsets and elevations given by survey, as well as set up confirming profile and cross fall requirements
- Installs Vibrators, connect all hydraulics needed and set stainless finishing plate to ensure quality product being extruded
- Confirms granular base is at correct elevation and within spec prior to extruding
- Confirms concrete extruded is at proper elevation and offset
- Responsible for thorough cleaning of machine and all attachments daily
- Responsible for working with equipment division to ensure scheduled maintenance and service is completed on machine and all attachments
- Pays close attention to temperature, wind, concrete slumps and other elements to attain a quality finished product
- Understands all aspects of Carmacks Quality Control Program
- Monitors the concrete pour to ensure all work is being completed in a cost-effective manner with quality results ensuring minimal rework, damages and waste
- Other duties as assigned
What do we value?
Skid Steer/Loader Operator
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Skid steer operator
- Must have a valid driver’s license (class 5)
- Must be physically able to perform all physical action pertinent to the equipment they operate
- Extensive knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work
Mixer Operator
- Previous experience and knowledge of full depth reclamation is an asset
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- Work well in a team environment
- Punctual and dependable
Gomaco Operator
- Minimum 2 years of experience with Gomaco extrusion in a municipal setting
- Experience with concrete, gravel base course, soil-cement and City of Edmonton specs and procedures
- Ability to extrude concrete to desired elevation and offset
- Experienced with Gomaco concrete laying procedures
- Experienced with Gomaco gravel base and soil cement laying procedures
- Minimum Class 5 Driver’s License
