Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.
Reporting to the Lead, Clinical Finance Services, the Finance & Insurance Clerk is responsible for providing accurate, timely, and proactive service to the finance department at the Mike Petryk School of Dentistry. Duties consist of day to day financial transaction processing, reporting, file maintenance, clinical accounts receivable including entering incoming insurance payments, submitting and process pr-authorizations, contacting appropriate parties to collect outstanding balance as well as providing financial/insurance support as needed.

Clinical Finance Responsibilities

Monitors the notifications of electronic bank payments, enters payments in axiUm and Viewpoint, updates patients accounts, etc.

Processes cheque, debit, and credit card payments and completes daily deposits

Collects fees and completes insurance and third-party billing forms including coordination of benefits in the event of multiple insurance carriers

Processes CDAnet and paper claim submissions

Enters adjustments for no cost treatment

Prepares the daily deposit of the Department, and ensures all appropriate backup documentation is obtained for audit purposes

Contacts patients and insurance companies to ensure prompt payments of aged balance when required

Gathers required documentation for Pre-Authorizations, processes Pre-authorizations as well as answers inquiries from both patients and insurance companies regarding dental treatment

Provides financial/insurance support to the patient services clerks and patients

Coordinates and receives documents and enters transaction notes

Ensures proper allocation of payments is entered into axiUm and Viewpoint in conjunction with the appropriate treatment and funding source

Responsible for ensuring that account receivables are up to date; sending statements, contacting patients for payments, following up

Post-secondary certificate in a related field required
-
1-2 years of Dental office experience required Experience using an electronic health record software is required

Experience with Point of Sale (POS) devices, processing payments and completing deposits
