About the Role
Tl’azt’en Nation is seeking a respectful, organized, and community minded Community Justice Coordinator to support justice, wellness, prevention, and community safety initiatives.
This role works with community members, families, justice partners, internal departments, and external agencies to support culturally appropriate justice services, restorative practices, client advocacy, prevention activities, and community based supports.
The Community Justice Coordinator plays an important role in helping individuals navigate justice related processes while supporting healing, accountability, safety, and connection to appropriate services.
Key Responsibilities
The Community Justice Coordinator will:
- Support community members involved with police, courts, corrections, Crown Counsel, probation, parole, and related justice services
- Accept and manage referrals from justice partners, community agencies, and internal programs
- Develop and support individualized case plans, action plans, referrals, and follow up supports
- Help clients understand justice processes, conditions, expectations, appointments, referrals, and available supports
- Support restorative justice approaches, justice circles, reparation processes, and culturally grounded alternatives where appropriate
- Work collaboratively with staff, families, Elders, justice partners, and service providers to support community wellness and safety
- Maintain communication with police, Crown Counsel, courts, corrections, probation, parole, and community agencies
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including referrals, case notes, action plans, reports, and closing summaries
- Prepare monthly reports, quarterly updates, closing reports, and other required program documentation
- Support clients facing barriers, relapse, conflict, or difficulty completing case plans
- Provide culturally appropriate information to justice partners regarding community based options and supports
- Support crime prevention, intervention, wellness, and community safety initiatives
- Participate in case conferences, interagency meetings, staff meetings, and planning sessions
- Support workshops, information sessions, cross cultural learning, and community education as needed
- Encourage and support the use of traditional justice practices and restorative approaches
- Provide coverage and support to the department as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Diploma or certificate in social services, criminal justice, criminology, community justice, human services, Indigenous studies, or a related field
- Relevant experience may be considered in place of formal education
- Experience working with clients, families, justice partners, or community based programs
- Strong interest in restorative justice, prevention, community wellness, and culturally grounded justice practices
- Experience working in or with a First Nation community is considered an asset
- Understanding of confidentiality, trauma informed practice, and respectful client service
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills
- Ability to build positive working relationships with clients, families, staff, police, courts, corrections, Crown Counsel, and community agencies
- Strong organization, planning, documentation, and follow up skills
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage sensitive information
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, and basic computer applications
- Valid driver’s licence and satisfactory driver’s abstract
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Willingness to complete required training, including First Aid, CPR, or other role related training
- Knowledge of Tl’azt’en Nation culture and community, or willingness to learn

Compensation
The wage range for this position is $32.00 to $38.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
This range reflects the Specialized Front Line / Coordinator level within Tl’azt’en Nation’s compensation framework and recognizes the independent judgment, confidentiality, reporting, client support, justice partner coordination, and culturally safe service delivery required in the role.
