The Opportunity
At Medavie, technology enables the delivery of essential services and supports strong financial operations across our organization. We are looking for a Manager, Application Development – Financial Applications to lead a critical portfolio that supports our finance, payment, and reporting ecosystems.
Reporting to the Director, Application Development, this role provides leadership across a team responsible for delivering and supporting applications that enable billing, payments, invoicing, procurement, financial reporting, and business intelligence. You will play a key role in strengthening operational reliability while advancing modernization through automation, data, and scalable technology solutions.
Working closely with Finance and Technology leaders, you will guide priorities, improve processes, and ensure the application portfolio supports evolving business needs and long-term sustainability.
What you’ll be responsible for:
Leadership & Team Development
Lead and support a team responsible for financial applications, delivery, and ongoing support
Build a high-performing team culture focused on service excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
Plan and balance team capacity across operations, delivery, incidents, and strategic initiatives
Strengthen team capability in modern application practices, automation, and data-driven solutions
Application Portfolio Ownership
Own the technology direction and roadmap for finance and payment applications
Ensure systems supporting billing, payments, invoicing, reporting, and procurement are stable, secure, and scalable
Partner with Finance stakeholders to prioritize enhancements and define solutions
Provide recommendations on application lifecycle, platform improvements, and investment needs
Business Partnership, Governance & Risk
Build strong partnerships with Finance, business, and technology stakeholders
Lead clear communication on priorities, risks, and delivery
Strengthen governance practices including intake, prioritization, change management, and documentation
Support audit readiness, compliance requirements, and operational controls
Financial & Resource Management
Manage financial and resource commitments across the application portfolio
Support budget planning, forecasting, and capacity management
Align resources to priorities and identify opportunities for cost optimization
Contribute to business cases supporting modernization and long-term improvements
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and scalability of applications
Promote the use of automation, analytics, and emerging technologies
Lead modernization efforts to simplify and strengthen the application ecosystem
Use operational insights to drive continuous improvement
Qualifications
Education: University degree or college diploma in Computer Science or a related field
Experience:
Strong experience in the IT industry with a demonstrated track record leading teams in complex application environments
Experience supporting and delivering enterprise applications, including prioritizing operational and project work
Knowledge & Skills
Proven people leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities
Strong communication, stakeholder management, and facilitation skills
Solid understanding of application development, support, and delivery practices
Ability to manage competing priorities across operations and strategic initiatives
Strong judgment and decision-making in complex environments
Language: English proficiency is required to perform the duties of the role, which include daily collaboration with teams and partners outside Québec who operate primarily in English.
Security clearance requirement: In support of our contract with the Federal Government, this role requires Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B), including fingerprinting, a criminal record check, and a credit check. You must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years and hold Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizenship status.

Pay Range: $99,177.30 - $132,236.40
