Full job description

This is a term position until March 31st 2027.

Monday to Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm (40 hours per week)

Some evening and weekend work may be required to meet client needs.

Position Summary

The Family & Natural Supports Worker provides early intervention and homelessness prevention services in community to youth (ages 16–26) who are at imminent risk of homelessness. Working from a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and harm reduction approach, the successful candidate will support youth in strengthening relationships with family members, caregivers, and other natural supports to help them remain safely housed whenever possible.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Provide outreach and individualized support to youth at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
Build trusting relationships using a youth-centred, strengths-based approach.
Facilitate family meetings, mediation, and conflict resolution.
Support youth and families in improving communication and strengthening relationships.
Identify and build natural support networks, including family, trusted adults, and community connections.
Develop safety plans, housing stabilization plans, and individualized support plans.
Coach and support parents and caregivers.
Connect youth to housing, education, employment, health care, income supports, and community resources.
Collaborate with landlords, schools, social service agencies, and community partners.
Maintain accurate documentation and HIFIS data entry.
Participate in Fredericton's Coordinated Access.
Provide case management and follow-up support

What You’ll Bring to The Role:

Diploma or degree in Social Work, Human Services, Child and Youth Care, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
Minimum two years of experience working with youth and families facing housing instability, family conflict, or other complex social challenges.
Working knowledge of Parental Sensitivity, Systems Theory, Attachment Theory, Grief and Loss, and Trauma-Informed Care.
Strong critical thinking, assessment, engagement, and verbal and written communication skills, mediation, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Knowledge of youth and adult mental health, with the ability to develop and adapt programming accordingly.
Ability to independently coordinate, deliver, and manage client programming, including data collection, progress monitoring, outcome measurement, and reporting requirements.
Valid Class 5 driver's licence and reliable transportation.

Salary: $25.00/hourly
