Health Sciences North (HSN) is seeking an innovative individual for the position of Clinical Manager, North East Specialized Geriatric Centre (NESGC) to manage the human and material resources of the North East Specialized Geriatric Centre (NESGC) in a fiscally responsible manner. Plan, communicate, coordinate, and evaluate activities to ensure the smooth delivery of patient/client services using clinical knowledge and leadership skills to promote delivery of optimal care. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a four (4) year Bachelor’s Degree with a specialization in a health-related field, from an accredited university. We are looking for someone with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in Specialized Geriatric Services and health development and minimum of two (2) years’ working in a leadership/supervisory role, preferably in a health care environment. Experience with change management, project planning, and financial management is required.

KEY FUNCTION:
Manage the human and material resources of the North East Specialized Geriatric Centre (NESGC) in a fiscally responsible manner. Plan, communicate, coordinate, and evaluate activities to ensure the smooth delivery of patient/client services using clinical knowledge and leadership skills to promote delivery of optimal care.
REPORTING:
Under the general direction of the Administrative Director, North East Specialized Geriatric Centre.
DUTIES:
1. Develop and manage clinical programs of the North East Specialized Geriatric Centre (NESGC) to meet the needs of complex older adults.
2. Work collaboratively with leaders, front-line providers, and patients and families to implement best-practice models of care.
3. Manage human and material resources to achieve program functions.
4. Develop internal and external processes for high quality care.
5. Develop the clinical teams to be the experts in Geriatrics for the North East.
6. Liaise with the Geriatrician(s) and Care of the Elderly Physician(s) to design and align resources required to provide assessment and treatment.
7. Provide leadership and expertise related to geriatric care expansion in accordance with the Integrated Health Services Plan and Ontario Health’s Operational Framework.
8. Create and maintain relationships with care partners across the North East with a focus on the Sudbury Sub region.
9. Develop and monitor key performance indicators.
10. Manage human resources including recruitment, selection and training.
11. Guide, motivate, monitor and supervise staff, develop standards of performance, evaluate performance and make recommendations on disciplinary action if required.
12. Develop annual budgets and assume fiscal accountability of the departmental operation according to approved budget.
13. Oversee the work of others in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), its regulations, and HSN policies.
14. Evaluate patient care and satisfaction on an ongoing basis and formulate solutions for improvement.
15. Provide hospital wide, on-call coverage for problems and serious issues after hours and on weekends according to scheduled rotation.
16. Determine and align improvement projects with HSN’s Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
17. Participate in the accreditation process and work to ensure that the program and HSN achieve, maintain and continually improve upon their accredited status.
18. Teach, coach and lead staff in the development and monitoring of quality indicators and improvement initiatives.
19. Engage in and foster professional development of all staff and provide opportunities for learning within budgeted resources.
20. Ensure a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors; investigate, report, debrief and take or direct corrective action as required on incidents.
21. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders/organizations/community groups to achieve program objectives, integrate and link services and foster partnerships across the continuum of service delivery.
22. Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
23. Represent the department or program on various committees and in meetings as required.
24. Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
1. Minimum of a four (4) year Bachelor’s Degree with a specialization in a health-related field, from an accredited university.
2. Current Certificate of Registration in good standing from a regulatory college is required.
3. Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in Specialized Geriatric Services and health development.
2. Minimum of two (2) years’ working in a leadership/supervisory role, preferably in a health care environment.
3. Experience with change management, project planning, and financial management is required.

8. Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.
9. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation and principles of management, hospital committee structure, conflict management and resolution, system needs analysis and organizational assessment.
10. Ability to use tact and discretion in dealing with health care providers and employees.
11. Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and patient information systems.
12. Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
13. Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.
