Job Description:
As a Site Superintendent at Shoreham Development, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day construction activities on assigned projects and supporting the successful execution of work in the field. Your responsibilities will include coordinating trades, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and site personnel, monitoring construction progress against project schedules, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, site requirements, and company expectations.
The Site Superintendent will be expected to maintain a strong and consistent presence on site, proactively manage field operations, identify and address issues affecting safety, quality, productivity, and schedule, and communicate project updates, constraints, and resource needs to project leadership in a timely manner. This role requires sound construction judgment, strong site coordination abilities, and the ability to keep multiple moving parts aligned in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day site operations on assigned construction projects.
- Coordinate subcontractors, trades, suppliers, consultants, inspectors, and other project stakeholders on site.
- Monitor construction activities against project schedules, milestones, and short-term work plans.
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project requirements.
- Lead on-site coordination of labour, materials, equipment, deliveries, and trade sequencing.
- Identify site-level risks, delays, deficiencies, design coordination issues, and operational constraints and take appropriate action or escalate as required.
- Maintain a strong focus on site safety, quality control, housekeeping, and overall site organization.
- Support and enforce workplace safety requirements, daily site protocols, toolbox talks, and safe work practices.
- Review drawings, specifications, site instructions, and change documentation and communicate requirements clearly to the site team.
- Track site progress and provide regular updates to project leadership regarding schedule, manpower, issues, and upcoming needs.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, deficiency reviews, corrective work, commissioning support, and project close-out activities.
- Maintain site records and documentation, including daily reports, progress logs, photos, incident documentation, and field correspondence.
- Support efficient problem-solving in the field while maintaining alignment with project goals and company expectations.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, construction managers, consultants, and ownership representatives to support successful project delivery.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Site Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or in a similar construction site leadership role.
- Strong practical knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, site logistics, safety practices, and field coordination.
- Experience overseeing active construction sites and coordinating multiple trades and subcontractors.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and site instructions.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to identify issues quickly and respond with sound practical judgment.
- Strong commitment to safety, workmanship, quality, and schedule performance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and site/project reporting tools.
- Experience with Procore, Smartsheet, or similar construction software is an asset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities on site.
- Ability to travel to project sites as required.
- Knowledge of safety standards, construction regulations, and best practices.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday
