Our client, a rapidly growing private company in Halifax, is seeking an experienced Controller to join their finance team.

This role reports directly to the Director and works closely with senior leadership, as well as a dedicated and highly motivated accounting team. It combines hands-on financial oversight with meaningful strategic input to support both current operations and future business growth.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

Lead day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting
Oversee capital budgeting, forecasting, and project cost reporting
Manage financial systems and reporting using Yardi and Jonas
Support financial planning for large-scale projects and upcoming initiatives
Provide accurate, timely financial insights to support decision-making
Ensure strong internal controls, compliance, and reporting standards
Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and systems

Experience & Attributes for Success:

Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent experience
Strong background in accounting and capital project reporting
Hands-on experience with Yardi and/or Jonas
Proven leadership experience, complemented by a charismatic, positive, and engaging leadership style
Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with senior leadership
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
Collaborative, approachable, and solutions-oriented
Comfortable working in a high-growth, fast-moving environment
