Position Summary
The Content Writer is responsible for researching, writing, editing, and proofreading high-quality content that supports Feather Friendly's marketing, communications, and brand initiatives.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys transforming complex scientific and technical information into compelling, accessible content. The successful candidate will be part of the Marketing & Design team. They will develop content across multiple platforms and ensure every piece reflects the quality and credibility of our organization.
More than a traditional content writing role, this position requires someone who is equally comfortable researching technical topics, interviewing subject matter experts, developing engaging stories, managing multiple projects, and producing clear, accurate communications for a wide range of audiences. You will report to the Marketing & Design Lead and the President.
Position Responsibilities
Support Brand & Communications
- Support the development and execution of marketing and communications initiatives.
- Support messaging for new products, company initiatives, and strategic priorities.
- Ensure consistency of the Feather Friendly brand across all communications.
- Contribute ideas that help strengthen the company’s position as a global leader in bird-collision prevention.
- Research industry, conservation, architectural, regulatory, and market developments that influence company communications.
Create Exceptional Content
- Research, write, edit, and proofread content across a wide variety of platforms.
- Produce website content, blogs, case studies, presentations, sales materials, executive communications, press releases, and marketing collateral.
- Translate scientific and technical information into engaging, accessible content for diverse audiences.
- Interview subject matter experts and gather information from multiple sources to develop accurate, compelling content.
- Develop stories that showcase innovation, conservation impact, customer success, and industry leadership.
- Maintain the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and consistency across all communications.
Support Digital Communications
- Develop and update website content.
- Work closely with the Marketing & Design Lead and other members of the marketing team.
- Review digital content for quality, consistency, and accuracy before publication.
- Support social media communications and online engagement.
Support Executive Communications
- Prepare speeches, talking points, and strategic communications for senior leadership.
- Support internal and external communications initiatives.
Coordinate Marketing Content
- Coordinate relationships with freelance photographers and various vendors.
- Coordinate marketing requests from the Marketing & Design Lead.
- Maintain marketing resources, content libraries, and communication assets.
- Support special projects and company initiatives as required.
Requirements
- Two or more years of experience in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, content writing, or a related field.
- Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, English, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and research skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex or technical information clearly and accurately.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- A curious mindset and a genuine interest in learning about technical, scientific, and conservation-related topics.
Preferred
- Experience in environmental, conservation, or science-based organizations.
- Experience writing blogs, articles, case studies, or other long-form content.
- Familiarity with website content management systems, social media platforms, and SEO best practices.
Technical Skills
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Experience with Shopify or other content management systems
- Social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube)
- Basic understanding of SEO principles and content optimization
- Google Analytics (an asset)
Location, Commitments & Benefits:
- The permanent full-time position is at our company headquarters in Mississauga, ON (no remote)
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 A.M. to 5 P.M.

- Salary: $50,000 to start. Reviewed after a three-month probationary period.
