Quality Inspector – Industrial Fabrication
Kellow Recruiting is currently recruiting for a Quality Inspector – Industrial Fabrication on behalf of a long-established and growing industrial fabrication company within the Durham Region.
Our client is a highly respected player within the custom industrial fabrication space with decades of success supporting complex projects across water treatment, industrial processing, and heavy industrial applications. With major investments currently underway, including expansion into a significantly larger facility over the next 18 months, the company continues to experience strong long-term growth and increasing project demand.
This is not a stand-back-with-a-clipboard type of quality role…
We are looking for a hands-on, technically credible fabrication professional who understands blueprint interpretation, dimensional tolerances, fit-up, fabrication sequencing, specifications, and practical problem solving within a custom industrial fabrication environment.
The ideal person is confident on the shop floor, communicates well with fabrication teams, and understands how to work collaboratively with operations, fabrication, and leadership to help ensure projects are executed properly from pre-production through final inspection.
This role is less about policing people and more about being a technical partner to fabrication and helping remove roadblocks before they become larger downstream quality or production issues. You will effectively become part of the voice of the customer internally, helping ensure specifications, tolerances, and quality expectations are clearly understood and achieved throughout the build process.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong hands-on experience within industrial fabrication, custom metal fabrication, stainless steel fabrication, or similar manufacturing/fabrication environments
- Strong blueprint reading and technical drawing interpretation skills
- Strong understanding of dimensional tolerances, fabrication quality, fit-up, inspection points, and fabrication processes
- Ability to confidently interact with fabrication teams and communicate technical requirements clearly and collaboratively
- Practical, solutions-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Previous quality inspection, fabrication inspection, QA/QC, fitting, welding, or technical fabrication experience would all be considered relevant backgrounds
- Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented custom fabrication environment where collaboration and communication are critical to success
Strong Assets
- Previous experience within a custom industrial fabrication environment
- CWB exposure, welding-related certifications, or industry-recognized fabrication / inspection certifications
- Post-secondary education related to fabrication, welding, manufacturing, quality, engineering technology, or industrial trades
- Experience reviewing specifications, drawings, tolerances, and customer-driven fabrication requirements
- Experience supporting custom projects versus repetitive production manufacturing environments
What’s In It For You
Compensation & Total Package
- Competitive salary range expected in the $85,000 – $125,000+ range depending on experience or certifications
- Strong bonus / profit-sharing program
- RRSP contribution program
- Comprehensive benefits package
- Combined bonus, profit sharing, RRSP, and benefits package may represent an additional $20,000 – $30,000+ in overall annual compensation value depending on performance and participation
Long-Term Stability & Growth
- Join a well-established and growing fabrication company with decades of industry success
- Significant investment currently underway including expansion into a substantially larger facility and continued operational growth
- Strong long-term demand within specialized industrial fabrication markets
- Annual compensation reviews and ongoing investment into employees and operations
Team Environment & Culture
- Collaborative, team-oriented environment focused on problem solving and execution
- Practical leadership team that values technical credibility, teamwork, communication, and accountability
- Supportive shop-floor culture where quality, craftsmanship, and teamwork matter
- Employee appreciation initiatives, team events, lunches, and strong long-term employee retention
- Opportunity to leverage your fabrication experience into a more advanced technical quality-focused role with long-term career progression potential
If you are a practical fabrication professional who takes pride in quality workmanship, technical execution, blueprint interpretation, and collaborative problem solving, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you confidentially.
