Job Description Housing Case Manager
The Housing Case Manager reports to the Director of Housing. This position provides comprehensive support and services to individuals and families in Nunatsiavut (all five communities) as well as supporting the NHC with regular administrative tasks. This role involves assessing applications, screening applications against established criteria for completeness, connecting clients with resources, and support services to achieve sustainable housing solutions.
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Housing Case Manager to oversee the daily operations of multiple properties and programs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing housing programs, supervising staff, maintaining budgets, and ensuring high-quality service delivery to residents. This role requires strong administrative skills, program management experience, and the ability to lead a team effectively. The Housing Case Manager plays a vital role in fostering a safe, well-maintained, and welcoming environment for all applicants.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the management and operation of housing facilities, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations
- Supervise staff members, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Supporting the development and management of budgets for housing programs, ensuring efficient use of resources
- Coordinate maintenance and repair activities to ensure properties are safe and well-maintained
- Implement and monitor housing programs to meet community needs and organizational goals
- Maintain accurate records related to occupancy, maintenance requests, and financial transactions
- Foster positive relationships with residents, addressing concerns promptly and professionally
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and conduct regular inspections of properties
- Collaborate with external agencies and partners to support residents' needs and program initiatives
Requirements
- Proven administrative experience in property or program management
- Strong budgeting skills with experience managing financial resources effectively
- Supervising experience with the ability to lead and motivate a team
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of housing regulations, policies, and best practices is preferred
- Experience in program management within community or social services is a plus
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a commitment to resident satisfaction
Who You Are:
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. They will have previous experience in case management, social services, or housing-related roles. The candidate should have a strong knowledge of housing programs, services, and resources, particularly within Indigenous communities. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills are essential, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and case management software is required, as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
