JOB TITLE: Health and Safety Advisor
TERM: Full-Time, Permanent
PAY SCALE: $36.00 – $40.00 per hour
WORK LOCATION: Highland Valley Copper – Mine Life Expansion, Logan Lake, BC SCHEDULE: 14 days on 7 days off, 10 hours per day

Health and Safety Advisors are responsible for health and safety administrative tasks, inspections, site security, and providing first aid. Must have strong interpersonal communication skills, speak in front of a group, and be able to work in a team environment. This role is suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment with the ability to perform and make decisions under pressure.
Primary Duties
- Ensure compliance with the BC Mines Act and WorkSafe BC Occupational Health & Safety Regulation, including site-specific permits, codes, and policies.
- Coordinate and monitor safety sensitive work activities, including hazard identification, risk assessments, and implementation of controls.
- Lead incident reporting, investigation, and corrective actions, ensuring legal reporting obligations are met and lessons learned are communicated.
- Conduct and document regular workplace inspections, audits, and field safety observations across project operations.
- Support delivery and tracking of mandatory safety training, orientations, competency verifications, and certifications.
- Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety committee activities, promoting a strong safety culture among workers and contractors.
- Other duties as identified and assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in English language.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook with the ability to email, scan, file, and create documents.
Experience and Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience as a Safety Advisor.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions.
- Must currently reside in Canada and be legally able to work.
- National Construction Safety Officer.
- Health and Safety Certificate - CRSP/ CRST.
- Intermediate first aid.
- Must be Clean Shaven for Respirator Fit test.
- All successful candidates must provide the following prior to confirmation of start date:
- Pre-Access Drug Screening
- Void Cheque/Direct Deposit Form
- Copy of Driver’s License
- Copy of Driver’s Abstract
Work Environment
- Schedule: 14 days on 7 days off, 10 hours per day.
- Travel: Travel may be required based on project requirements.
- Living Out Allowance (LOA): LOA may be available for the right candidate who does not reside in the area; however, local candidates are preferred.
- Work Location: Highland Valley Copper – Mine Life Expansion, Logan Lake, BC.
