Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to work Monday to Friday for 8 hours per day from 9:00 to 5:00 or 5:30. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, including those with autism, and possess the ability to educate, engage, and support their development. This role requires a proactive individual who can manage daily routines, meal preparation, and housekeeping tasks while ensuring a safe and stimulating atmosphere for our autistic daughter and her sister.

We have two girls who are 8 and 10 years old. Our 10 year old has autism/ADHD/anxiety. She is currently homeschooled and requires patient, full time care with crisis and violence prevention experience.

Duties

Supervise and engage our daughter in age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development.
Provide educational support by assisting with homework.
Prepare nutritious meals and snacks for the family.
Maintain a clean and organized household.
Communicate effectively with us parents about daily activities, progress, and any concerns regarding our daughter.
Foster positive relationships with our daughter to build trust and encourage open communication.

Qualifications

Previous experience caring for children with disabilities and special needs.
Strong caregiving skills with the ability to educate and engage children in meaningful ways.
Proficient in meal preparation and cooking healthy meals for children and the family.
Excellent organizational skills to manage daily routines effectively.
Ability to navigate autistic meltdowns calmly and with compassion.
Compassionate, patient, and reliable personality with strong communication skills.

We have had many nannies and support workers over the years for both our daughters. Our previous support workers became a part of our family and we are still long term friends with many of them.
