Full job description

Job Summary
The Child and Youth Coordinator is responsible for the planning, development, and delivery of high-quality programs for children and youth, including summer day camps, licensed and authorized afterschool programs, and evening drop-in programs. The Child and Youth Coordinator ensures programs are safe, engaging, and aligned with the mission, vision, and values of BGC Brantford, promoting the health, well-being, and development of children, youth, and families.

Responsibilities

Plan, implement, and evaluate programs: Develop and oversee high-quality summer day camps, licensed afterschool programs, and authorized recreation after-school programs, ensuring they are engaging, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with the Club’s mission, vision, and values
Design and manage specialized activities within evening drop-in programs that foster the social, emotional, and physical well-being of children and youth, promoting growth and meaningful engagement
Lead, supervise, and mentor program staff and volunteers, providing guidance, training, and feedback to ensure programs are delivered consistently and in accordance with Club standards and best practices.
Ensure all programs comply with licensing, safety, and regulatory requirements
Regularly assess program effectiveness by soliciting feedback from supervisors, co-leaders, children, and families; analyse outcomes and recommend modifications to enhance programming and better meet the developmental, social, and cultural needs of participants
Maintain comprehensive and accurate program records, including attendance logs, incident reports, and program evaluations, to support accountability, quality assurance, and continuous improvement
Maintain proactive and open communication with parents or guardians regarding their child’s participation, progress, challenges, and achievements within programs

Qualifications

Education:

Degree or diploma in Child & Youth Studies, Recreation & Leisure, Social Work, Education, Social or Human Services, or equivalent education in a related field.

Related Experience:

1–3 years of experience working directly with children and youth, aged 4–18, fostering their social, emotional, and physical development in recreational or educational settings
Demonstrated experience leading, supervising, and supporting staff or volunteers in program delivery, ensuring team effectiveness and adherence to organizational standards
Program development and evaluation: Proven experience designing, implementing, and evaluating programs, including assessing outcomes, incorporating feedback, and making recommendations to enhance participant engagement and program effectiveness

Additional Skills:

Self-motivated and proactive, ability to multi-task, strong time management, strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and strong mediation and conflict resolution skills
Strong administrative and technological skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.),
Current First Aid/CPR (*required)
High Five PHCD / QUEST2 is an asset

Schedule

June – September, Day Shift (Monday – Friday)
October – May, Days and Afternoons (Monday – Friday)

Due the nature of the Club’s business, staff are asked to have flexibility within their schedule. While general work times are posted, the Club cannot guarantee a defined schedule

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $52,000.00-$54,000.00 per year
