Full job description

Position Summary

The Sanitation Technician is responsible for ensuring all equipment, production areas, and facilities are cleaned and sanitized to meet strict food safety and quality standards within a poultry processing environment. This role is critical in preventing contamination and maintaining compliance with CFIA regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

Perform detailed cleaning and sanitizing of processing equipment, including conveyors, Breaders, deboners, grinders, mixers, packaging machinery and more.
Clean production areas such as floors, walls, drains, ceilings, and high-contact surfaces
Disassemble and reassemble equipment for deep cleaning and inspection
Follow established Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) at all times
Use and handle sanitation chemicals safely according to WHMIS requirements
Ensure proper concentration and application of cleaning chemicals
Conduct pre-operational inspections to verify cleanliness before production begins
Complete sanitation records, logs, and checklists accurately and on time
Identify and report any food safety risks, contamination issues, or equipment concerns
Support HACCP, GMP, and CFIA regulatory compliance programs
Maintain strict hygiene standards, including proper use of PPE (gloves, hairnets, smocks, boots)
Assist in controlling cross-contamination, especially in raw poultry handling areas

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is an asset
Previous sanitation or food processing experience is an asset
Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, or food safety systems is an asset (Will be trained)
Ability to follow detailed procedures and safety protocols
Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and safe handling practices

Working Conditions

Cold and wet environment (typical in poultry processing plants)
Exposure to raw meat and strong sanitation chemicals
Physical demands: lifting, bending, scrubbing, standing, etc.
Slippery floors and noisy environment
Night shifts and weekend shifts

Pay: From $19.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
