The accommodations are bedrooms at Wilderness Edge in Pinawa with some private and some shared bathrooms as well as access to a shared, unstaffed kitchen where employees can store their items and prepare their meals.

Role

Tantalum Mining Corporation of Canada Ltd. (Tanco) is looking for a Heavy Duty Mechanic (Red Seal) to join our team at the Bernic Lake Mine site. Tanco is owned by Sinomine (Hong Kong) Rare Metal Resources Co. Ltd. is a mining and manufacturing company located 60 kilometers Northeast of Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba. Employees reside in Lac du Bonnet, Pinawa and the surrounding area.

The Heavy Duty Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy-duty equipment essential for our mining operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy equipment maintenance, a keen eye for detail and a dedication to safety.

Principal Responsibilities:

Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic principals, trade techniques, properties of various materials, and operating and application principals of equipment.
Determines nature and extent of repair work required, plans details of working procedure, locking and tagging out equipment, obtains tools and materials required.
Diagnosis and trouble shoots, repairs, adjusts, replaces, overhauls, dismantles, rebuilds, installs, tests, cleans, and lubricates all types of mobile equipment components.
Assembles and aligns gears, bearings, couplings and shafts involving the application of press, sliding, or running fits.
Adjusts and measures to close tolerances using precision testing and measuring equipment.
Installs and repairs all types of high and low pressure hoses with mechanical fittings.
Operates oxyacetylene and other and welding equipment to burn, braze and perform minor welding.
Operates machine tools such as drill press, band saw, hydraulic press, bolt and pipe threader.
Operates pendent control crane and hoisting equipment to move and position equipment and materials.
When necessary, operates mobile equipment.
Cleans and applies anti-corrosive compounds to overhauled equipment.
Performs scheduled emergency and preventative maintenance work and advises supervision when shutdown of equipment is necessary in order to minimize damage and production interruptions.
Collaborate with other maintenance and operations personnel to prioritize and address equipment issues.
Keeps working area, tools and equipment in an orderly condition.
Adheres to all safety protocols such as Hot Work, Lock, Tag & Try, Linebreaking and Confined space.

Education/Experience

Red Seal Certification (required).
