Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our accounting team.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with multiple clients, managing competing priorities, and providing accurate, high-quality bookkeeping services in a public practice environment. We are looking for someone who can step into the role immediately with minimal training.
You will be responsible for maintaining client books, ensuring compliance requirements are met, and working closely with clients and accounting staff to support timely financial reporting and tax preparation.
This is an in-office position with flexibility around working hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide full-cycle bookkeeping services for a portfolio of clients across various industries
- Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare and post journal entries and month-end adjustments
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Prepare and file GST and PST returns
- Process payroll and related government remittances
- Manage statutory and non-statutory deductions, including WCB, payroll source deductions, and Employer Health Tax (EHT)
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
- Assist with year-end working papers and accountant requests
- Communicate professionally with clients, government agencies, legal professionals, and team members
- Identify discrepancies and resolve bookkeeping issues in a timely manner
- Ensure client deadlines are met accurately and consistently
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 3 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience
- Experience working in a public practice or multi-client bookkeeping environment preferred
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and accounting procedures
- Post-secondary education in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field
- Experience preparing GST, PST, payroll, and government remittances
- Ability to manage multiple client files simultaneously
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Professional, mature, and positive attitude
Software Experience
Required:
- QuickBooks Online
- Sage
- Microsoft Office Suite
Considered an asset:
- Xero
- Hubdoc
- Other cloud-based bookkeeping applications
