About us

Mensch Kitchen and Catering is the premier farm to table catering company operating throughout Vancouver Island, with our production kitchen in Lake Cowichan. We work with dozens of Cowichan Valley and Saanich farms and other producers. Every event we cater contributes to our efforts in cultivating a circular economy and strengthening community resilience.

Ideal candidate would have 1+ years experience in kitchens, a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

About you:

You have a positive attitude
Knowledge of basic food hygiene and safety practices
You are a strong worker with sense of urgency and a team mentality
You have or are keen to gain food preparation skills
You have strong time management skills and can work independently
Always ensures the highest standard of cleanliness
Prepared for physical requirements of kitchen duties. (Heavy lifting and full shifts on your feet)
You have reliable transportation
Flexibility to work weekends, and holidays as required

Position details:

Dishwashing and organization.
Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks, with opportunities to learn new skills.
Receive and store kitchen supplies and deliveries in an organized manner.
Work closely with other kitchen staff members to ensure efficient operation and organization of the kitchen.
Cleaning and organizing kitchen storage areas, including refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage.
Occasionally assist in non-kitchen related tasks, such as setting up for events or assisting with deliveries.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 5 months

Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
