Maintenance Foreman
Oxbow Aquatic Services
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
About Oxbow Aquatic Services
Oxbow Aquatic Services builds, services, and restores ponds, lakes, and water features for residential, commercial, and public properties. Our work includes system installations, repairs, cleanouts, long-term maintenance, and water treatment.
We are a small, hardworking team that takes pride in quality work and practical problem solving. The job is hands-on, technical, and outdoors, often at beautiful properties, with a mix of physical work and diagnostic thinking.
Role
The Maintenance Foreman is a working leadership role responsible for completing maintenance and service work with a small crew under the direction of the Maintenance Manager. This is primarily a field position focused on leading work on site, diagnosing and repairing systems, and ensuring jobs are completed efficiently and to company standards.
The foreman works hands-on daily to maintain and optimize pond and water feature systems, troubleshoot equipment, and support long-term system performance. This is a problem-solving role suited to someone who enjoys figuring things out and improving systems.
The role also includes coordinating a defined group of maintenance clients and completing basic administrative tasks such as communication, scheduling coordination, and progress reporting, working closely with the broader team.
A Day in the Life
Workdays vary depending on projects and service needs. Some days focus on routine maintenance visits for monthly contract clients, while others involve troubleshooting equipment, repairing systems, or starting larger repairs that may span multiple days. Projects can range from pump replacements to multi-day fountain or feature installations that involve both technical and creative work. Most work takes place outdoors at residential and commercial properties.
You typically work with the same crew member, leading the work on site and deciding how to approach each task. Much of the role involves diagnosing problems, planning solutions, and carrying out repairs or adjustments to keep systems operating properly. Attention to detail is important, as small issues can sometimes be the cause of larger system problems. Success in this role comes from being able to think through problems carefully, develop a plan, and execute it with attention to detail.
The work is active and hands-on. You will regularly work around water, including wading into ponds or features, and may occasionally need to lift heavier equipment to complete tasks. Work continues in rain or colder conditions when required.
Client interaction is part of most visits. You may answer questions, explain work being done, or provide recommendations while representing the company in a professional and friendly way. Communication tasks such as checking messages, providing updates, or preparing quotes happen periodically throughout the week around field work.
Spring and summer are the busiest seasons, with winter remaining steady and often including opportunities to assist the construction team on new builds, providing additional learning and variety.
