Dispatcher Supervisor

As a Dispatch Supervisor, you will be responsible for developing a strong team that can effectively deal with the day-to-day operational challenges. Ensuring a high level of service for our customers and internal stakeholders is achieved while managing all service delivery functions cost-effectively. Utilize strategic and tactical plans for the continuous improvement of this area which compliment the corporate goals and objectives.
How You’ll Help
Utilize superior communications skills to motivate staff and develop effective peers, managers and clients.
Establish individual objectives, conduct performance appraisal reviews, recommend salary action, and implement succession planning. Oversee and manage professional development to support leadership development program.
Actively engage in process improvement to further develop our systems.
Communicate information to key stakeholders within General Freight which is essential to achieving the targeted outcomes.
Provide mentoring and guidance to subordinates and other employees.
Act on all employee related issues immediately
Provide training to support individual roles, and to expand skills which move employee engagement in the growth of the business.
To hire “A” candidates for vacant positions
Lead/influence/persuade cross-functional teams to ensure excellence in the execution of the dispatch Operation.
Utilizing LEAN tools to demonstrate leadership through your active participation in developing strong relationships with team members.
Responsible for applying discipline where necessary, verbal and written.
Deal with Driver/Broker concerns immediately if on duty Dispatchers are unable to resolve the situation.
Review the entire Dispatch system for any problems. Work with Central and Terminal Dispatchers to come up with solutions.
Open availability and flexibility to work evening, weekends, and holidays.
Your Skills & Experience:
Minimum of secondary education, with preference of post-secondary education (general stream), or a combination of education and experience.
3-5 years Supervisory experience preferred.
Previous transportation or operational experience is preferred, various roles within transportation would be beneficial.
Communication skills – advanced.
Computer skills – accuracy, Microsoft Office programs, AS400, web based programs, TRUCKMATE
Attention to detail.
Demonstrated customer relationship skills.
Strong conflict resolution skills.
Able to work deadlines in high transactional environment.
Ability to champion business needs in a collaborative manner to colleagues.
Results focused.
Leadership and team building orientation; negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
