The Manager of Information Technology will oversee the year-round operation of the IT department and ensure that it aligns with the goals and objectives of the Division.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a management position in an Information Services Department, experience in the development of IT systems to support business processes, experience in staff supervision, and the ability to assess technical needs and implement technology-based solutions for operational problems.
This position will work closely with the Manager of Maintenance regarding
building security systems. Other duties will be assigned as necessary.
Duties:
Develop and maintain strategic and operational plans for Information Technology Services to the Division.
- Long-term project implementation and cost estimates.
- Liaise with Division Senior Administration, IT staff, School Administrators, Managers, and Board office staff.
Supervise staff and technical resources required to deliver IT products, and IT services to Senior Administration, Board office staff, and schools.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate Division IT staff.
- Staff administration and mentoring.
Manage, develop, implement, control, and evaluate Division Information Systems and Programs.
- Plan, consult, and manage complex projects, network technologies and infrastructure, upgrades, and modifications.
- System and method development.
- Recommend / modify policies, procedures, standards.
- Coordinate the operation of services that provide technical support to the Division.
Continuous quality improvements.
- Manage and implement Division wide change through improvements in organization, systems, procedures, and equipment.
Oversee major projects and initiatives.
- Acts as the Division most senior systems analyst expert in all aspects of systems projects / development.
Financial planning & budgets, analysis and reporting.
- Detailed submissions for Divisional IT requirements / project costing.
Procurement of IT and audiovisual services and equipment.
Performs other related duties consistent with the classification as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor in Computer Science, Business Management with a concentration in Management Information Systems, or suitable combination of training and experience.
- A minimum of 5 years experience directly related in a management position in an Information Services Department is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to lead the IT team in the accomplishment of goals. Proven skills to interact effectively with employees to direct workflow, assess performance, and assign duties.
- Direct experience in the development of a strategic plan and successfully demonstrating the ability to conceptualize plans and technical solutions for dealing with an array of information system issues.
- Demonstrated ability to apply specialized expertise as it relates to computers, networks, communications as well as hardware and software applications and techniques as they relate to business and administration computing.
- Project management skills and the ability to problem solve.
- Demonstrated communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to collaborate with all levels of staff, Administration, and suppliers.
- Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to work with a variety of people and groups.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of information in the workplace.
- Knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health regulations as it applies to IT.
