We are seeking a highly accomplished Intermediate Systems Testing/QA Specialist for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Toronto. In this role, you will take on a key quality assurance and test execution capacity, specializing in planning, executing, and automating system testing across complex software applications and integration platforms.
As an intermediate QA specialist, you will bridge the gap between software development teams, business analysts, and project leads throughout the entire Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Operating fully onsite in Toronto, you will execute functional, non-functional, regression, user acceptance, and API testing, generate detailed test cases, log defects, and ensure digital solutions conform to strict accessibility regulations and quality standards.

Responsibilities
Provide input into test strategies, test plans, testing tool selection, and resource allocation.
Plan, organize, and execute functional, integration, system, regression, and user acceptance testing across GUI and non-GUI environments.
Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans, test scripts, and detailed test cases aligned with technical specifications.
Execute manual and automated test scripts to validate system behavior under diverse operational conditions.
Identify, document, isolate, and track software defects through to resolution using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, ALM, or Bugzilla.
Collaborate closely with software developers to reproduce, troubleshoot, and resolve application defects.
Build and maintain automated test scripts using enterprise testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Postman) and support integration into CI/CD pipelines.
Conduct performance, stress, and load testing using tools like JMeter or LoadRunner to evaluate system throughput.
Perform backend database validation and data integrity checks using SQL queries.
Ensure application testing complies with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards.
Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Maintain detailed documentation of test results, test coverage metrics, release notes, and user guides.
Qualifications
Core Requirements & Testing Expertise
Enterprise QA Experience: Minimum 2+ years of dedicated software testing experience in enterprise-level IT environments.
Manual & Automated Testing: Hands-on experience performing manual testing alongside automated testing tools and frameworks.
API & Automation Tooling: Direct experience with test automation platforms (e.g., Selenium) and API testing tools (e.g., Postman).
Defect Management: Practical experience using Jira, Azure DevOps, ALM, or similar tools to log, track, and manage defect lifecycles.
Accessibility Compliance: Extensive experience conducting accessibility testing and ensuring compliance with AODA regulations.
Methodology Alignment: Deep understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall testing methodologies.
Database Verification: Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server) to perform backend verification.
Preferred Experience & Assets
Performance Testing Tools: Familiarity with performance and load testing software such as JMeter or LoadRunner.
CI/CD & DevOps: Knowledge of continuous integration pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git, Jenkins).
Soft Skills & Delivery Attributes
Analytical Problem Solving: Proven systematic problem-solving skills to analyze root causes and debug complex technical issues.
Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work effectively within multi-disciplinary project teams under aggressive timelines.
