The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Support Lead and Senior Patrollers with visitor safety and accident reduction through positive and educational interactions with guests
- Promote the Alpine Responsibility Code
- Assist Lead and Senior Patrollers during opening hill sweep as required
- Proactively monitor for hazards and poor surface conditions on all trails/runs and surrounding areas and report issues to Senior Patrollers, Patrol Lead, or other appropriate departments
- Proactively participate in control of public traffic on the slopes with a focus on safety and education
- Respond to incidents and provide First Aid and other support where required such as scene management and crowd control
- Work in a team environment and be prepared to support other departments as required
- Closing hill sweep ensuring all guests have descended safely
- Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.

- Must be 18 years or older by December 31st, 2026, OR have 2 years’ experience volunteering as a Junior Volunteer Ski Patroller
- Must have experience skiing or snowboarding and be progressing above the beginner level
- Availability:
- Approximate commitment of 80 hours throughout the winter season – typically one weeknight and one day every other weekend
- Able to attend pre-season training:
- Approximately 20 hours between November and December for role-specific training
- If you do not currently hold Red Cross First Responder certification or equivalent or higher, a CH provided course will run Wednesday evenings, September 9, 2026 to November 25, 2026
- Successful candidates must provide their Ski/Snowboard equipment including Skis/Snowboard, boots, Poles, Helmet *Uniform will be provided (to be returned end of season)
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, on varied terrain.
- Able to lift up to 20 pounds, stand, walk or ski/snowboard for long periods of time
- Successful candidates are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS), to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (if over 18 years old). *Cost covered by Conservation Halton up to $30.00.
- Successful candidates will be required to have Red Cross First Responder certification prior to first day of employment or complete training provided by Conservation Halton
- CH parks are not accessible by public transit; candidates should ensure they have reliable transportation.
- Part time and full-time hours available; hours may vary depending on availability
- Working hours will vary (daytime and evening shifts) and will include weekends and holidays.
