Job Description:
We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and motivated Grounds Maintenance & Snow Removal Labourer to join our team.
This is a year-round outdoor position. During the spring, summer, and fall seasons, you will be responsible for helping maintain residential and commercial properties through lawn care and general landscape maintenance. When winter arrives, the role transitions into snow and ice removal, helping ensure our clients' properties remain safe and accessible throughout the winter season.
The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in their work, works well as part of a team, and is comfortable working in a physically demanding environment and changing weather conditions.
Responsibilities – Spring, Summer & Fall
- Operate commercial lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other landscape maintenance equipment
- Perform lawn mowing, trimming, edging, and blowing
- Assist with garden and landscape maintenance
- Maintain clean, neat, and attractive properties
- Assist with spring and fall cleanups
- Weed, prune, mulch, and perform general grounds maintenance as required
- Load, unload, and transport landscape materials and equipment
- Maintain and care for tools and equipment
- Follow proper safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
- Work efficiently as part of a team while maintaining DLE's high standards of workmanship
- Provide professional and courteous service to clients while on site
Responsibilities – Winter
- Perform residential and commercial snow removal and ice management
- Operate snow blowers, shovels, spreaders, and snow-removal equipment
- Clear sidewalks, walkways, driveways, entrances, and parking areas
- Apply salt and other ice-control materials as required
- Operate snow plows and other equipment where trained and qualified
- Monitor properties during snow events and respond as required
- Work safely in challenging winter weather conditions
- Maintain clear and accessible client properties
- Assist with loading, unloading, and maintenance of winter equipment
Qualifications
- Previous experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, snow removal, or a related field is an asset
- Experience operating commercial lawn-care equipment is an asset
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Physically capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling equipment and materials
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Valid G driver's licence and reliable transportation
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays during snow events
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous commercial landscaping or property maintenance experience
- Previous snow and ice management experience
- Experience operating tractors, skid steers, snow plows, or other equipment
- Landscape or horticulture training/certification
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Clean driver's abstract
