We are seeking a Controller / Finance & Administration Manager to lead our financial operations, strengthen internal controls, and support strategic decision-making across the organization.
Position Summary
The Controller / Finance & Administration Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial health, administrative functions, and internal controls of Moncton Fish Market. This leadership role provides accurate financial reporting, manages cash flow, supports ownership with financial insights, and ensures the company maintains strong financial discipline while supporting growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll oversight, inventory valuation, general ledger activities, and daily product costing.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and banking relationships.
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Monitor financial performance and provide recommendations to ownership.
Inventory & Operational Controls
- Oversee inventory valuation and month-end inventory reconciliations.
- Improve inventory accountability and costing accuracy.
- Strengthen internal controls and reporting systems.
- Support process improvements that enhance operational efficiency.
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure compliance with tax filings, remittances, audits, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain corporate records, insurance policies, permits, and contracts.
- Support HR administration, onboarding, benefits administration, and workforce planning.
- Provide leadership and oversight for administrative functions and reporting systems.
Additional Responsibilities
In addition to supporting Moncton Fish Market, the successful candidate may periodically provide financial and administrative support to affiliated companies under common ownership. Responsibilities may vary based on organizational needs and growth initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPA designation is considered an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
- Experience in wholesale distribution, food service, seafood, manufacturing, logistics, retail, or similar inventory-based businesses preferred.
- Strong understanding of inventory costing, inventory controls, and financial reporting.
- Advanced proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
