Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Helper to support our culinary team in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment. This role is essential in assisting with meal preparation, food handling, and ensuring food safety standards are upheld. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the food industry and a willingness to learn and grow within our team. Previous restaurant or food service experience is a plus, but we provide training for motivated individuals eager to develop their skills.

Duties

Assist with basic food preparation and meal assembly under the supervision of chefs or kitchen staff
Support food handling activities, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment to meet health and safety standards
Help with organizing supplies and ingredients to ensure smooth kitchen operations
Support serving staff during meal service times as needed
Follow all food safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure high-quality food standards
Assist in setting up and breaking down workstations at the beginning and end of shifts
Ensure proper storage of ingredients and leftovers according to safety guidelines

Skills

Wash and peel vegetables and fruit
Wash work tables, cupboards and appliances
Remove trash and clean kitchen garbage containers
Unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, cupboards and other storage areas
Sweep and mop floors, and perform other duties to assist cook and kitchen staff.
Clean, peel, slice and trim foodstuffs using manual and electric appliances
Use deep fryer, grill, oven, dispensers and other equipment to prepare fast food items such as sandwiches, hamburgers, fries, salads, ice cream dishes, milkshakes and other beverages
Portion, assemble, and wrap food or place it directly on plates for service to patrons, and package take-out food

Pay: $16.35 per hour
