‍Position Title: Finishing Carpenter – Custom Homes & Renovations

Position Type: Full-Time

Location: Nanaimo, BC

Compensation: $30.00 – $40.50 / hour (based on experience) + Benefits & RRSP Matching

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Working closely with a Project Manager, you will play a key role in delivering the premium finishing details that define the Shining Knight Construction brand.

Your core responsibilities will include:

High-End Finishing: Install paint-grade and stain-grade trim, hang/trim interior and exterior doors, and install architectural hardware.
Custom Millwork: Fabricate and install custom cabinetry, built-ins, stair components, and railings.
Site Leadership: Supervise, support, and mentor apprentices on-site while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspace.
Project Tracking: Produce approximately 2,000 hours of on-site carpentry annually, logging hours and providing daily progress updates via Buildertrend.
Versatility: Demonstrate skill and interest in other aspects of carpentry, such as premium exterior finishing, when required.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

We’re looking for candidates with:

Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on carpentry experience (with a heavy focus on finishing).

Credentials: Red Seal Certification is considered a strong asset.
Specialized Skills: Custom millwork and cabinetry fabrication experience is highly valued.
Logistics: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving abstract and reliable transportation to and from local job sites.
Tools: Must have a strong work ethic, excellent time management skills, and your own standard hand/power tools for the trade.
