Travel Casual Patient Watch Security Officer

Site Description: The requirement for this role is a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle, with the willingness to travel to various hospital sites within the Pictou County, i.e. Aberdeen Hospital and Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital

Position Details:

Position: Travel Casual Patient Watch Security Guard

Site: Multiple sites in Pictou County

Payrate: $ 20.50

Key Responsibilities:

Perform patient watch duties as the main area of responsibilities, including continuous observation to ensure patient's safety and prevent harm. Monitor and report concerns, de-escalate situations calmly, follow clinical direction, document accurately, maintain confidentiality, and provide a respectful, non-invasive presence.
Perform Healthcare Security Officer duties as needed, including:
Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Prerequisites:

Valid Driver's License and personal vehicle
Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
Valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
English (oral and written) fluency is a must
Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
