Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance/Security Manager to join our team. As a Maintenance/Security Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the Maintenance/security operations and ensuring the safety of our premises, employees, and visitors.
DUTIES:
· Oversee hotel infrastructure to ensure functionality and safety
· Provide direction and assign work to staff on basic construction, plumbing, equipment, security issues.
· Managing and supervising the maintenance/security team on a daily basis, making sure work is assigned and daily tasks are being done.
· Ensures maintenance shop adheres to cleanliness and safety standards
· Maintains storeroom, parts and shop inventories.
· Attends all required hotel meetings to keep up on in house activities, events and to maintain communication with other departments within the hotel
· Performs periodic inspections of the property to ensure all areas and standards are in working order.
· Interviews, trains, coaches, counsels and disciplines department personnel according to Collective agreement clauses and provincial labour standards.
· Oversees all maintenance/security departments’ staff time punches and payroll on a daily/biweekly basis.
· Develops all maintenance/security department budgets, forecasts and schedules
· Responds to all emails and answers calls to the maintenance department in a timely manner.
· Manage relationships with contractors and service providers
· Maintains open communication with all hotel departments to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
· Ensures adherence to all department and hotel guidelines, policies and procedures
· Planning and organizing of repair(s), construction, installation and renovation projects
· Maintains budgets, expenses and activity logs
· Maintains staffing levels in the maintenance/security department
· Reviews all completed work orders, and inspects completed work as need to ensure accuracy and quality
· Fast action to resolve emergency issues (ie: water line break)
· Business is a 24/7 operation and after hour calls will be required in times of emergencies, questions and/or staffing issues.
· Respond in a courteous and prompt manner to all guest questions and/or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
· Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and pertinent hotel information.
· Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.
· Ability to work under pressure situations and exercise good judgment
· Other duties as required; Running errands in company vehicle for depts.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
· Requirements includes basic reading, writing and math skills and experience in building maintenance and repair experience in large buildings.
· Must have 1 or more years’ experience in a management/supervisor or human resource role
· Must have basic working knowledge/experience and/or certification with basic plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, life safety and electrical work. (Technical work is contracted out)
· Must be able to remain calm in busy environments
· Must be in good physical condition
· Must have excellent problem solving, organizational and decision making skills;
· Must have excellent customer service and communication skills;
· Required to have knowledge/experience with provincial OH&S, WHIMIS and all other regulations and basic maintenance of equipment operation.
· Must have a pleasant, calm personality;
· Must be honest, reliable and dependable and practice good hygiene;
· Job is majority Mon-Fri, (with being on call every 2nd weekend) flexibility is required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays if ever needed in busy or emergency situations.
· Business is 24/7, therefore must be available by telephone for emergencies, questions and/or staffing issues.
· Must have effective management, leadership, organizational and communication skills.
· Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
· Valid driver’s license is required;
