HR Project Partner is currently hiring a GIS Analyst on behalf of our Client, Landmark Surveys & Engineering. We're looking for an experienced GIS Analyst to support surveying, engineering, and land development projects across Newfoundland & Labrador. This is a key technical role within the geomatics group—ideal for a detail‑driven professional who thrives on transforming complex spatial data into clear, accurate, and actionable insights.
As the GIS Analyst, you’ll work closely with survey crews, engineers, project managers, and clients to maintain high‑quality geospatial datasets, produce professional mapping deliverables, and support the full lifecycle of land development and infrastructure projects. You’ll bring strong analytical skills, advanced GIS software expertise, and a commitment to data accuracy that aligns with Landmark’s reputation for precision and reliability.
If you’re a GIS professional with 5+ years of experience and a passion for high‑quality spatial data, we’d love to hear from you.
This position is primarily office‑based with occasional field visits for data verification, GPS collection, or coordination with survey crews.
Position Summary:
The GIS Analyst supports Landmark Engineering & Surveyors by transforming raw survey, engineering, and environmental data into accurate, actionable geospatial intelligence. This role bridges field survey crews, engineers, planners, and project stakeholders—ensuring spatial data integrity, producing high‑quality mapping products, and maintaining enterprise geodatabases. The analyst will manage complex datasets, perform advanced spatial analysis, and support project delivery across land development, infrastructure, environmental, and construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process & analyze raw survey data from GPS/GNSS, total stations, LiDAR, UAVs, and other instruments; perform QA/QC checks to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Manage enterprise geodatabases (ArcGIS SDE/Pro), ensuring proper integration of survey, engineering, and environmental datasets.
- Perform complex spatial analysis including DEM generation, contouring, cut/fill calculations, surface modeling, and coordinate geometry (COGO) computations.
- Create high‑quality cartographic products such as topographic maps, alignment sheets, site plans, right‑of‑way exhibits, and as‑built drawings.
- Acquire and process remotely sensed data (satellite imagery, aerial photography, LiDAR point clouds).
- Maintain data quality standards including metadata, topology, spatial accuracy, and attribute integrity.
- Support engineering and surveying teams with spatial data requests, field verification, and technical GIS troubleshooting.
- Automate workflows using Python/ArcPy, ModelBuilder, or FME to streamline data processing and mapping tasks.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and visualizations to communicate spatial findings to internal teams and clients.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geomatics, GIS, Surveying, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional GIS experience in surveying, engineering, land development, or environmental projects.
- Advanced proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and QGIS.
- Experience with survey data processing (GNSS, total station, LiDAR, UAV photogrammetry).
- Strong cartographic and visualization skills for producing professional mapping deliverables.
- Proficiency in Python scripting (ArcPy), SQL, or FME for automation and data transformation.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with surveyors, engineers, planners, and clients.
- Experience managing multi‑user geodatabases and versioned editing environments.
- Experience with CAD integration (Civil 3D, MicroStation).
- Knowledge of land development workflows, municipal engineering, or construction surveying.
- Experience with remote sensing tools (ERDAS Imagine, Pix4D, DroneDeploy).
- Familiarity with SDSFIE or other standardized geodatabase models.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:
- Spatial problem‑solving.
- Attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Project management and task prioritization.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
