Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.
The Manager of People, Experience & Talent is currently seeking a Learning & Development Specialist. The purpose of the position is to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate learning opportunities designed to enhance technical proficiency, influence quality improvement, and promote leadership and teamwork skills. This role is responsible for championing continuous learning through education, coaching and mentoring grounded in adult education principles that support a learning organization.
Note: This position offers a hybrid work environment consisting of in-office and remote work. Office location is 500 Church Street, Penetanguishene.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Identify, develop and deploy training initiatives that enhance workforce capability, support operational performance, and align with workplace culture and strategic objectives

Collaborate with leadership teams to conduct training & development needs assessments, identify non-clinical skills gaps, and design and implement blended learning solutions utilizing key technical content from subject matter experts to fulfill learning needs

Evaluate education and training programs to ensure quality, effectiveness, and alignment with organizational goals

Coordinate the hospital’s non-clinical training calendar and leadership development activities.

Partner with the Employee Wellbeing Specialist to coordinate and facilitate Waypoint’s Front Line Leadership Training program

Partner with OD & Talent Consultants on organizational development, training, and initiatives
- Prepare, maintain, and update comprehensive training and reference/resource materials and use technology to maximize learning

Monitor and apply emerging practices in learning and development, adult education, and digital learning strategies

Maintain training records, certifications, and skills tracking systems
- Support change management initiatives via communications and storytelling
- Champion Waypoint’s values and culture, creating opportunities for employees to connect with our purpose and each other in meaningful ways

Provide generalist level support to the Organizational Development and People, Experience & Talent area when required including supporting recruitment, engagement and recognition activities
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Education, Business, Healthcare/Public Administration, Communications, Social Sciences or a related field (Required)

Recognized professional education in a related field such as human resources, teaching and training, education, organizational development, advanced facilitation, change management or project management (Required)

Minimum of 2 years of recent and related experience (Required)

Knowledge of instructional design, adult learning principles, and training evaluation techniques

Knowledge of group facilitation, theories and techniques to support team development, planning, and problem solving

Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information

Ability to promote an inclusive environment and integrate differences

Results oriented work ethic to work independently
- Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, interpersonal and organizational skills

Proven written and verbal communication skills
