Position Summary
Thai Haven Restaurant Inc. is seeking a full-time Thai Cook to prepare high-quality Thai dishes, support daily kitchen operations, and maintain consistent food standards. The ideal candidate has more than one year of cooking experience, strong wok handling skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy restaurant kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and plate Thai dishes according to restaurant recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines.
- Operate wok stations safely and confidently, including high-heat stir-fry cooking for noodle, rice, meat, seafood, and vegetable dishes.
- Prepare Thai sauces, curry bases, marinades, soups, salads, appetizers, and other menu items using fresh ingredients and traditional Thai flavours.
- Complete daily mise en place, including cutting vegetables, preparing proteins, portioning ingredients, and setting up the cooking station before service.
- Monitor food quality, taste, texture, temperature, and consistency during prep and service.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation while following safe food handling procedures and kitchen safety standards.
- Coordinate with kitchen team members to ensure timely order flow, accurate preparation, and smooth service during peak periods.
- Assist with receiving, storing, rotating, and labelling food supplies to reduce waste and maintain freshness.
- Follow opening and closing kitchen procedures, including cleaning equipment, storing ingredients, and reporting maintenance or supply needs.
Qualifications and Requirements
- More than 1 year of experience as a cook in a restaurant, takeout, catering, or comparable commercial kitchen environment.
- Wok handling experience is required; experience with high-heat Thai, Asian, or stir-fry cooking is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Thai ingredients, seasonings, herbs, curry pastes, sauces, noodle dishes, rice dishes, and spice balancing.
- Ability to follow recipes, maintain portion control, and prepare dishes consistently under time pressure.
- Food Handler Certification is preferred, or willingness to obtain certification if required by the employer.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, work in a hot kitchen environment, and lift/move kitchen supplies as needed.
- Reliable, punctual, team-oriented, and able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and flexible full-time shifts as scheduled.
Work Conditions
- Full-time role, approximately 40 hours per week, with shifts scheduled according to restaurant operating needs.
- Initial probation period of six (6) months applies from the start date.
- Work is performed mainly in a commercial kitchen with hot cooking equipment, sharp tools, and time-sensitive service demands.
- Must follow all workplace health, safety, cleanliness, and food handling standards at all times.

Compensation and Benefits
- Pay range is $19.00 to $24.00 per hour, depending on experience, demonstrated wok skills, availability, and overall fit for the role.
- Health Spending Account (HSA) eligibility after six (6) months of continuous employment, subject to successful completion of probation, company policy, and plan terms.
- Paid holidays for eligible full-time employees, subject to company policy and applicable employment standards.

- Participation in eligible tip pool arrangements, subject to restaurant policy and applicable laws.
- Uniform allowance provided according to company policy.
