Options Housing is looking for a dynamic and committed individual to join our Supportive Housing Team in the capacity of Evening and Weekend Supervisor. This position is 24 hours per week spanning across weekends and some evenings.
Position summary
The Part Time-Supportive Housing Evening and Weekend Supervisor is responsible for overseeing staff and day-to-day operations across Options Housing's Supportive Housing locations during weekends and select weekday evenings. The Supportive Housing Program provides affordable housing and wraparound supports to 128 tenants across four residential communities, with services delivered seven days a week.
Working closely with the Program Manager, Supportive Housing, the Supervisor will provide leadership, guidance, and support to a team of employees to ensure the delivery of high-quality, tenant-centered services. The Supervisor is responsible for promoting a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment while ensuring program operations align with organizational policies, housing standards, and best practices.
Overview of Functions
1. Provide direct supervision and leadership to staff during evening and weekend shifts, ensuring effective service delivery, adherence to policies, and appropriate staffing coverage.
2. Coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs to ensure effective and engaging service delivery.
3. Support the Program Manager with the administration of RGI tenancies, rent calculations, and eligibility assessments.
Primary Human Resources Duties
· Create, maintain, and update part-time and relief staff schedules, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, appropriate staffing coverage, and adherence to the Collective Agreement
· Help lead in the hiring, onboarding, orientation, training and the supervision of members of the Supportive Housing team
· Help lead the performance management, and where necessary disciplinary process, of members of the Supportive Housing team
· Supervise staff within a unionized environment and maintain familiarity with the Collective Agreement
· Assign work, overtime opportunities, and grant time off work with or without pay. This includes managing sick leave, vacation requests, and scheduling for part time team members
· Evaluate team training needs, identify and coordinate professional development opportunities in collaboration with the Program Manager
· Provide staff with support and supervision, as well as meet with each staff member on a regularly scheduled basis to review work performance and employee wellbeing
· Ensure staff understand and follow all workplace policies
· Support and mentor frontline staff in the planning, delivery, and facilitation of tenant programming, ensuring programs are responsive, inclusive, and consistent with organizational standards
· Assist with labour management, investigations and grievances in the agency as required
Program Coordination:
· Facilitate the creation, and ongoing development of tenant-focused programs and services that promote community engagement, social inclusion, wellness, and housing stability
· Develop annual and ongoing program plans, including objectives, activities, timelines, partnerships, and evaluation measures aligned with organizational goals and funder requirements
· Foster and support tenant-led initiatives by identifying community priorities, developing project plans, and implementing activities that strengthen community capacity and leadership
· Work collaboratively with the Program Manager to identify tenants experiencing crises, or other challenges, and facilitate appropriate interventions, referrals, and supports.
· Collect and report on required statistics to meet RGI (rent-geared-to-income) requirements, and ensure records and reports are maintained and updated regularly
· Attend relevant community meetings as required
· Assist in the administration and oversight of the tenant liaison program
· Oversee and provide support to tenants performing maintenance related tasks on an honorarium basis with supportive housing buildings, maintaining accurate documentation as required.
· Support Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI) administration in accordance with legislative requirements, organizational policies, and funding agreements.
· Ensure all records, reports, and documentation are accurate, confidential, complete, and maintained in accordance with privacy legislation and organizational procedures.
· Travel between housing sites and community locations to support program delivery, staff supervision, tenant engagement, meetings, and organizational initiatives as needed
· Other duties as required
Education Knowledge and Experience:
- Completed post-secondary education in a relevant field
- Minimum of 1 year experience supervising staff, including hiring, on-boarding, off-boarding, and performance management.
- Minimum 2 years working directly with individuals with lived experience of homelessness and/or mental health and substance use
- Experience in administering rent geared to income housing considered a strong asset
- Experience in a leadership position within a unionized environment considered a strong asset
- Knowledge of the effects that poverty, homelessness, mental illness and addictions have on individuals
- Knowledge and commitment to the values of Options Housing
- Knowledge of crisis intervention
- Understanding of the diverse needs of clients
- Understanding of cultural diversity and considerations as demonstrated in approach and delivery
- Knowledge and understanding of housing legislation
