Full job description

Our client, a privately held, well-established, Canadian industrial organization is seeking a General Accountant. With vertically integrated operations and multiple business lines, the company plays a critical role in supporting infrastructure and development projects across North America. This role is ideal for a driven professional who is eager to grow their career in accounting and impact the business as it expands and grows.

What our client has to offer:

Excellent compensation package ranging from $65,000 to $80,000
Hybrid - 3 days in office, option of 2 days remote
A 4% year end bonus

Career growth opportunities

Responsibilities:

Prepares standard journal entries for month-end, quarter-end and year-end.
Prepares monthly Corporate tax and HST/GST remittances as well as Stats Canada reporting and investigates significant variances to ensure accuracy of returns and avoid penalties.
Provides financial analysis support to operations and construction teams.
Prepares monthly sales reconciliations ensure coding and dollar values have imported correctly.
Review account reconciliations and analysis.
Reviews accounts payable for coding and tax accuracy, makes cost accrual entries to ensure accurate month end cut-off of expenses, and reconciles accounts payable subledgers and accrual balance to general ledger by making adjustments if required.
Prepares year-end files for annual year-end financial audit and responds to audit efficiency in the process.

Qualifications:

General Accounting: +2 years of accounting experience with advanced excel skills
Education: College diploma or University degree in accounting
Designation: Enrolment in a designation is a nice to have
A personable approach and the ability to work effectively with diverse communication styles.
Familiarity with ERP systems; experience with Oracle ERP is a plus, but not a requirement.
