Job Title: Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic – Remote Construction & Civil Projects (28/14 Rotation)
Location: Various Remote Sites Across Canada (primarily Northern Labrador and Northern Ontario)
Rotation: 28 days on, 14 days off
Travel: Company paid-travel (including half-day paid travel in & out)
Reports To: Project Manager
Compensation: Competitive hourly/day rate and camp accommodations plus meals included.

We are currently seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic to join our team for ongoing work throughout Labrador and Northern Ontario.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanic who enjoys working on a wide variety of heavy equipment in a remote camp environment. The Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and servicing of construction and heavy-duty equipment to ensure maximum reliability, safety, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing on heavy equipment and support vehicles.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related issues.
- Repair and maintain heavy construction equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, skid steers, haul trucks, and other fleet equipment
- Conduct inspections and identify equipment deficiencies before failures occur.
- Complete troubleshooting and repairs in a safe and efficient manner
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and repair documentation.
- Ensure equipment complies with company safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Assist with equipment mobilization and demobilization as required.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Work collaboratively with operators, supervisors, and project teams to minimize downtime.
- Follow all company policies, site procedures, and safety regulations
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrain components
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues independently
- Experience working on construction, mining, or heavy civil equipment
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Willingness to work in a remote and physically demanding environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Safety-conscious with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Assets (not required but considered an advantage):
- Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician Certification
- Valid Class G Driver's Licence (or equivalent)
- Experience working in remote camp environments
- Experience with crushing and heavy civil construction equipment
- WHMIS 2015 Certification
- Valid First Aid Certification
- Class DZ/AZ Licence
Working Conditions:
- Rotational schedule of 28 days on and 14 days off
- Fly-in/fly-out remote project sites
- Work performed in various weather conditions and challenging environments
- Overtime and weekend work may be required based on project demands.
- Exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and outdoor elements
- Physical demands include lifting, climbing, kneeling, standing, and working around heavy machinery.
