Assistant Supervisor
YWCA Cambridge is hiring a full-time Assistant Supervisor to join the leadership team at our new licensed child care centre opening in Southeast Galt. We're a community-based non-profit advancing equity for women, children, and gender diverse individuals through emergency shelter, licensed child care, and community programs across Waterloo Region. About the role
The Assistant Supervisor learns the day-to-day operations of a licensed child care centre and shares in the Supervisor's responsibilities, serving as the official designate at the centre in the Supervisor's absence. The role is designed to build administrative leadership in early childhood education, with hands-on mentorship from the Supervisor and the Director of Child Care Services.

Position: Assistant Supervisor
Hours: 37.5 hours/week, (7.5 hours per day), this is a late/closing shift and must be willing to work varied hours to support Centre needs.
Start date: August 11 2026
Rate: 27.86- 36.50, based on experience
What you'll do
- Manage child care fee collection, invoicing, and family records
- Manage the enrolment process for new families, including tours and waitlist management through HSN OneList
- Complete monthly subsidy submissions, billing, and occupancy reports
- Maintain children's files in accordance with licensing requirements
- Support the Supervisor with orientation, training, and supervision of staff, students, and volunteers
- Monitor scheduling and assign a designate in your absence
- Conduct fire drills and oversee inventory
- Participate in YWCA program evaluations and Region of Waterloo's Early Years Engage quality initiatives
- Contribute to a high-quality program using ECERS, ITERS, and SACERS.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, community partners, and the team
- Attend centre staff meetings, supervisors' meetings, and leadership meetings as assigned
What you bring
- Early Childhood Education Diploma or equivalent
- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of ECE
- Standard First Aid + Infant and Child CPR
- Safe Food Handler Certificate
- Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a licensed child care environment
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act, ELECT, and How Does Learning Happen?
- Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and committed to furthering these principles
