The Manufacturing Technologist role provides hardware and software support to the manufacturing operations, allowing ADL Insulflex to improve our processes and meet evolving customer needs.
Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Plant Engineer, carry out maintenance, repairs, and process improvements related to our manufacturing activities. As the need arises, you will also assist with other engineering-related issues and projects around the plant. Specific duties may include:
- Troubleshooting equipment issues on a day-to-day basis
- Identifying necessary improvements to safety, reliability, efficiency, and ease of use
- Routine maintenance tasks around the plant (repairs, calibration, checking equipment condition, cleaning filters, etc.)
- Developing and implementing changes to our plant and equipment
- Reviewing proposed changes with appropriate stakeholders
- Identifying parts for purchase
- Hardware configuration and setup
- Soliciting feedback from operators about equipment, processes, etc.
- Participating in quality processes and creating quality records when required
The successful candidate will work in person at 94 Willmott St in Cobourg, Ontario.
Skills
The ideal candidate for this position would be:
- A registered C.E.T. (Certified Engineering Technologist)
- Familiar with a manufacturing environment and production machinery
- Experienced in developing and implementing projects
- Comfortable with hand tools and small power tools
- Eager to learn about and work with manufacturing processes, technology and software
- A persistent problem-solver, ready to work through whatever challenges arise
- Open to cross-disciplinary projects, working both in and out of their comfort zone
- Aware of the impact of process deviations and engineering changes on product quality and on the integrity of the Quality Management System
- Accountable and self-motivated, able to keep projects moving amid uncertainty, complexity and distractions
- Good at communicating with operators, stakeholders and management
The following software and technologies are used at ADL Insulflex. Experience with these would be a significant asset to candidates:
1. 2D mechanical and/or electrical drawings in AutoCAD LT, including dimensioning and tolerancing
2. 3D modeling in AutoCAD Fusion 360
3. Data collection and experimental design, including gage R&R and statistical analysis
4. Rapid prototyping including 3D printing (FDM)
5. Machine programming using RSLogix, FactoryView Studio and Sysmac Studio
6. Epicor ERP software, which utilizes SQL, C#, REST and related technologies
7. Microsoft Office
8. Automatic video inspection
9. Industrial sewing machines
Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
