The Nutritional Care Aide reports directly to the Nutritional Care Manager. The Nutritional Care Aide is to assist the Cook and the Nutritional Care Manager to prepare food and beverages in accordance with menu requirements, set up room tables for meals and clean up.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Nutritional Care Manager and the Cook to ensure that the requirements of the Fixing Long Term Care Act and Regulations, Accreditation Standards and all Omni standards, policies and procedures are met.
- Set up dining room tables for meals; clear tables following meals.
- Clean kitchen and dining areas and kitchen waste removal in accordance with work assignments.
- Ensure work area is kept clean and sanitary at all times.
- Follow appropriate safe food handling and infection control procedures at all times throughout the receiving, storing, thawing and preparation, cooking, holding and serving processes to prevent food borne illness.
- Wash and put away dishes.
- Assist with the serving of meals and beverages in the dining area. Provide a pleasant dining experience to each resident as per established policies and guidelines.
- Prepare and serve meals and nourishments as per established menus and schedules.
- Ensure each resident has the opportunity to express his/her meal preferences by offering them a visual choice of each meal option prior to service. Accommodate resident requests and/or food preferences.
Education
- Successful completion of an approved Food Service Worker (FSW) program.
- OR; Current enrollment in an approved Food Service Worker program.
- Maintain a current and valid ‘safe food handling’ certificate from an approved certification body at all times.
- Knowledge of the nutritional care needs of the Long Term care resident.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the basics of good sanitation and safe food handling techniques.
