Full job description

Hyland Precast & Hyland Ready Mix specializes in precast and ready mix operations across the Comox Valley and North Vancouver Island. Our group of companies are expanding and include Redi-Rock Retaining Walls BC, Coast Hydro Excavating, Coast Sand & Gravel and T&R Contracting (Powell River).

Position: Ready Mix Driver

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain a Ready-Mix truck
Work alongside labourers – 90% of your day is outside of the truck, boots on the ground
Work with customers to provide quality service based on specific job needs
Complete minor maintenance and checks on equipment
Ensure safety for all team members and property
Work as part of a team and follow direction from supervisor
Leave the job site in better condition that when we got there. Clean, safe and job well done.
Haul hoses, PPE and tools to where the work is being done.
Complete required paperwork for projects and jobs.
Ability to work occasional overtime and weekends.

Role Specifications:

2+ years’ experience operating a Ready-Mix truck required.
Valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license and experience operating a manual transmission (Class 1 preferred).
Willingness to work additional overtime shifts outside of regular schedule.
Clean and current driver's abstract.
Proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
Having First Aid, would be a significant asset

Skills:

Strong mechanical aptitude.
You are safety focused when it comes to people and equipment.
Perform physically demanding work (able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis).
Enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Able to communicate in an efficient manner remotely.
You have the ability to work well in a team, share a laugh with your coworkers and get the job done safely.

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must sign employment letter of offer.
Proof of Valid class 1 or Class 3 and drivers abstract.
Must be 18 years or older.
Currently live on Vancouver Island and can consistently arrive at Hyland for early shift starts.
