We are currently seeking a talented, motivated Intermediate Mechanical Engineer (Buildings) to join our growing team, with the position located at our Vancouver office. FPC is a growing mechanical and plumbing engineering firm that designs energy-efficient building systems for clients in the insurance, healthcare, commercial, and industrial sectors. The person in this position works closely with senior engineers and takes day-to-day responsibility for design, drawings, and project coordination.

Responsibilities of this role will include, but not be limited to the following:
Design and Engineering
- Design HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for commercial, healthcare, and industrial
buildings.
- Run engineering calculations for load analysis, equipment sizing, and system selection.
- Prepare contract drawings, specifications, and design reports.
- Apply relevant codes and standards (BC Building Code, ASHRAE, LEED) on all projects.
- Bring energy-efficient design into regular project work.
- Use AI tools where they save time or improve the quality of work.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate mechanical design with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines.
- Attend project meetings and represent the mechanical scope to owners, consultants, and
contractors.
- Answer technical questions and coordinate with contractors and suppliers during
construction.
- Travel to job sites to confirm construction matches the design.
Project Support
- Track project milestones, schedules, and budgets with direction from senior engineers.
- Review and give feedback on work produced by designers and junior staff.
Required:
- Registered P.Eng. with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC), or EIT actively working toward registration.
- 4 or more years of progressive experience in building mechanical engineering.
- AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite proficiency is required.
- Experience in Revit.
- Self-motivated, hardworking, flexible.
- Enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, teamwork, creativity, and taking the initiative.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to interface with clients and translate client requests into concrete deliverables.
- Excellent time management habits, ability to multitask, ability to sustain focus on long tasks.
- Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way.
- The candidate must not require sponsorship, now or in the future to be considered for this role.
- Experience in plumbing design including knowledge of BC plumbing code(s) and applicable NFPA knowledge within the industry, above and below ground sanitary/waste and rainwater drainage systems, domestic hot and cold water services in fire protection services; fire protection design including hydraulic calculations and drawings.
Asset:
- HAP or Trace 700 (HVAC load analysis and energy modeling)
- IES-VE or eQUEST (good to have for complex or energy-intensive projects)
