Full job description

The Welder plays an important role in maintaining and repairing our fleet and equipment by performing a variety of welding and fabrication work on heavy trucks and related construction equipment, including road graders, salters, plows, and dump boxes.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect, repair and fabricate units.
Inspect for obvious signs of wear and/or damage.
Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances.
Diagnose defects in heavy equipment.
Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, and streamline work processes.
Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and road calls if required.
Accurate completion of work orders and timecards.
Test repaired equipment for proper performance
Clean, inspect, and perform other maintenance work as per MTO regulations.
Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
Other mechanical repair work as required.

Qualifications

Welding license an asset
Able to design and retrofit plows, harnesses, salter boxes, etc.
Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Basic computer proficiency
Valid Class G driver's licence
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding work

Work Conditions

Primarily based in our shop, with occasional travel to company job sites
Indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions
Overtime and weekend work may be required during peak operating periods
Safety equipment will be required such as safety boots, hearing protection and safety glasses.
