This is an exciting time to join the National Client Group at National Bank and be part of a winning team of financial professionals working together to continue to grow our market share in Quebec. The team is focused on building long term relationships with large privately owned and private equity backed Canadian companies and providing wholistic solutions that power their growth. We are seeking a results-oriented individual that is looking to be part of a highly driven team which is strongly focused on market expansion.

Working in a collaborative, team-based environment and reporting to the Managing Director & Head, Eastern Quebec, National Client group the Director will be focused on building National Bank’s market presence and sourcing new full-service client relationships. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of success in business development and client/ COI relationship management and a deep understanding of credit to identify, negotiate, structure and underwrite complex corporate transactions.

Primary Accountabilities:

Develop a robust and effective marketing strategy for the assigned market in order to grow the client base and revenues, and build a prospect list with pitching / cross-sell plans for prospect customers in order to build a strong pipeline of full-service relationship opportunities;

Demonstrate strong leadership/ co-ordination skills focused on market build out/ prospecting activities while developing and maintaining key internal and external partner relationships.

Build and maintain a strong presence in the market by developing relationships with key industry stakeholders (accounting firms, advisors, law firms and key industry and business leaders) and participating in related professional associations;

Manage C-Suite relationships with sophisticated clients, supporting their business objectives by proposing financial strategies based on the most suitable combination of Bank products and services

Work closely and in collaboration with internal partners (Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Private Banking, Risk Management Solutions and Treasury) in order to proactively initiate and structure customized financing solutions that meet the specific needs of clients, within the Bank's risk criteria;

Understand market conditions impacting clients / maintain a strong awareness of general economic conditions in order to ensure all risks are appropriately managed;

Job Location: Quebec City

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or masters in a related field (business, finance, economics);

Professional designation(s) and/or an advanced degree is considered a strong asset;

>5-8 years of corporate/ commercial lending experience in Canada, with a strong knowledge of the market’s key prospects;

Demonstrated track record of developing and implementing successful marketing strategies to drive business development;

Excellent credit skills, with experience in structuring complex senior debt financings ranging from 20 million to 1 billion, including bank syndication (cash flow lending, private equity and project acquisition finance) as well as experience working within the syndicated loan market;

Strong knowledge of lending and ancillary products and services (cash management, derivative trading products) as well as an ability to identify ancillary business opportunities for existing and prospective clients;

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong ability to effectively articulate National Bank’s strategy and capabilities within the marketplace;

Excellent networking, relationship building, negotiation, sales/closing and teamwork skills;

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other commercial systems and platforms;
