Construction Manager 1 (Electrical Substation)

Annual salary: $ 109,700.00 - 138,700.00
What you'll do
- Directs and supervises a multidiscipline group of BC Hydro Construction officers, support staff and/or external consultants
in the fields of construction management, contract management and commissioning.
- Ensures that all aspects of construction work and associated activities related to assigned projects is planned in
accordance with BC Hydro's PPM Practices and is carried out effectively in terms of safety, quality, schedule, cost and
scope.
- Provides leadership and ensures compliance with safety requirements.
- Works with the Construction Manager 2 to ensure adequate resources are in place to meet multi-year project and program
plans.
- Provides technical guidance and facilitates appropriate technical/constructability reviews and oversight for projects as
required.
- Assists in the development of business unit objectives, customer needs, and performance measurements.
- Assists in managing the departments operational performance to meet objectives.
- Conducts Constructability Reviews for projects throughout various stages in the project life-cycle.
- Provides input to and reviews contract tender documents with respect to scope and risk.
- Provides input to the public consultation process as it pertains to construction site activities and issues.
- May act as "Hydro's Representative", Hydro Representative Delegate and/or Work Package Manager on a portfolio of
construction contracts.
- Manages construction and equipment installation contracts, ensures the successful completion of the contract work in
compliance with the contract milestones and responsible to verify and prepare documentation for payment.
What you bring
- 7 years of progressively more responsible and complex experience managing high performance construction teams in a
Construction Management environment.
- A strong understanding of the electrical power system, Substation construction and components, outage staging plans,
and Transmission Distribution System Operations (TDSO) as this role is in support of substation upgrade and new build
projects capital projects for both Capital Infrastructure Project Delivery (CIPD) and Project and Contract Management
(PCM) .
