Full job description

Laser Operator

An established and growing steel fabrication company is looking for an experienced Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team.

We are seeking someone who is dependable, quality-focused, and takes pride in producing accurate work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has experience operating CNC laser equipment, enjoys solving production challenges, and works well with both production staff and leadership.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Set up, program, and operate CNC laser cutting equipment safely and efficiently
Read and interpret fabrication drawings, work orders, and production schedules
Verify material types, thicknesses, and job specifications before production
Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and productivity
Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet dimensional and quality standards
Sort, identify, and organize completed parts for downstream production
Perform routine machine maintenance and daily equipment inspections
Troubleshoot equipment or production issues to minimize downtime
Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes when handling material
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Work closely with production, fabrication, and shipping departments to ensure customer deadlines are achieved
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production department

Qualifications

Experience operating CNC laser cutting equipment in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment
Experience with Trumpf lasers is preferred
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities
Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing quality work
Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable using forklifts and overhead cranes (or willing to become certified)
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience leading a production crew, mentoring employees, or acting as a shift lead
Experience coordinating workflow or assisting with production scheduling
Continuous improvement or Lean manufacturing experience is an asset
