Position Title Maintenance Assistant

Hours of Work 37.5 hours per week

Position Type Full-time Permanent

Reports To Director of Properties

Salary $20.99 to $22.09 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience

Work Location Onsite — Kikaskitânaw Centre, Regina, SK. Other YWCA Regina locations as needed.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Properties, Properties Team Members will provide general internal and
external maintenance and upkeep to the properties of YWCA Regina, owned or leased. Upkeep of the properties will include
ensuring they are clean, well-kept and proactively maintained. The Maintenance Assistant will work closely with the entire
maintenance team to provide support as needed, ensuring a safe and secure space for all that we serve.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

General Maintenance (100%)
 Basic understanding of heating, air conditioning systems, boilers, pumps, fans units, thermostats, fire alarm systems, air

conditioners/HVAC and AC ducts.
 Perform maintenance tasks like plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing all types of hardware, electrical equipment

including lamps, air conditioners / HVAC and AC ducts.
 Installing and troubleshooting necessary appliances and equipment as needed.
 Maintain outside grounds (remove snow, ice, and debris; spray and remove weeds; sweep and clean).
 Small engine upkeep and maintenance.
 Perform janitorial/cleaning duties if needed.
 Ensure that specific areas of the property are in proper condition for inspections.
 Work on call shift on a rotational basis.
 Perform all other duties as assigned or needed

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education
 Grade 12-General Educational Development.
 First Aid/CPR Certification or ability to complete within 3 months.
 Any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and

responsibilities as described.
 Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s License.
 Willingness to obtain additional training as needed. i.e. Lock-Out-Tag-Out, Working at heights, etc.

Experience
 Familiarity with general maintenance and ability to perform wide variety of maintenance duties.
 Good experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools.
 Excellent experience working and troubleshooting various building equipment and systems.
 Knowledge of Indigenous communities and women experiencing violence, addictions, and/or homelessness is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
 Fluent in Microsoft Suite and confident to work on computers and with technology.
 General knowledge of basic building repair, drywall repair, plumbing, carpentry etc.
 Ability to perform physical labour that involves movement for the majority of shift and able to lift items over 50lbs.

 Connections with and knowledge of the Regina business community
 Experience working in and/or deep understanding of trauma-informed practice.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 Work Location: Onsite at the Kikaskitânaw Centre, Regina, SK. Other YCWA Regina locations as may be needed.
 Physical Demands: Typical office environment with standard physical requirements, including extended periods of

some lifting, standing, or walking for extended period of times may be required.
 Schedule: Standard business hours (37.5 hours/week), with occasional evening and weekend requirements.
 Special Conditions: Driver’s license required
 Pre-Employment: A criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check where applicable, may be required

following a conditional offer of employment. Results will be assessed in relation to the duties of the role and will not
automatically disqualify candidates.
