Job Description
Position Title: Shift Supervisor
Department: Operations
Report to Security Site Manager, Account Manager and Client Security Management
Manage:
Portfolio Focus:
- Site Operations operate and peak efficiency
- Escalations are resolved promptly
- Regulations and Procedures are followed
- Culture and Communication
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management (60% Time Spent)
- Follow Security and client’s standards, rules, and policies.
- Attend training, orientation sessions, and staff meetings as required by Guardteck Security.
- If an incident occurs, report, and document in a detailed and accurate manner as well as follow emergency procedures. Report to the client and senior management along with a resolution and following actions to reduce hazards.
- Ensure that guard supervisors are promoting an efficient, professional, and agile approach when dealing with difficult situations.
- Assist, manage, and coach all employees to guarantee high-quality performance along with compliance related to rules, expectations, and standards.
- Provide orientation and training to new employees.
- Manage vacation time for employees.
- Manage scheduling, time and attendance and own schedules in an effective and efficient manner.
- Ensure company vehicle maintenance is kept up to date
- Report to management any changes or discrepancies to employees’ hours.
- Fully understand and be aware of the site layout.
Relationship building (10% Time Spent)
- Preserve clients’ interests, needs, and wants at all times
- Ensure that employees provide safety and security services to the property, customer and third parties
- Ensure that incidents are being resolved efficiently and address the client’s needs.
- Encourage service interactions and exchanges of information between employees and customers
- Constantly communicate with clients to understand their needs, desires, and worries in order to act accordingly.
Leadership (30% Time Spent)
- Understand and meet the requirements of Fire and Life Safety for the property
- First Aid Compliance – Naloxone, AED checks and maintenance of First Aid Kits onsite
- Fire Extinguisher Checks and keeping documentation up to date including sign offs
- Provide constant constructive feedback, coaching, and training to enhance motivation and performance
- Promote a collaborative culture in where all employees can rely on each other and improve motivation
- Constantly interact with all employees to determine any issues and understand their needs
- Attend 1x1 meetings with Account Manager and clients
- Enforce above and beyond customer service, performance, and high-quality deliverables
Ad Hoc Responsibilities:
- Enforce compliance with Occupation Health and Safety regulations
- Assist in the implementation of new technology or software systems to improve operational efficiency
- Manage and report any accidents or injuries, ensuring timely completion of reports
- Participate in the joint health & safety committee and maintain a safe, clean work environment
- Support the planning and execution of company-wide initiatives or special events
- Uphold and embody Kandor Managements core values, ensuring they are understood by all employees
- Maintain strong professional relationships with co-workers, executives and Management
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Education:
- Completed Certificate in Security Management or a combination of education and experience.
- 3 years security experience
- Valid Security Licence.
- Completed basic security training – Conflict Management, Use of Force and other relevant training is an asset
- Leadership training is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player.
- Outstanding customer service.
- Honesty, discipline, commitment, accountability, and trustworthiness.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Outstanding leadership skills that promote a strong culture and motivates employees.
- Full knowledge of security system databases.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and awareness of discrepancies in the environment and relationships.
- Ability to resolve conflict in an efficient and agile manner while promoting nonaggressive behaviours such as a conflict solution.
- Ability to make difficult decisions.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assist, help, coach, mentor, and discipline employees.
- Excellent multitasking skills that guarantee quality and efficiency.
