WHAT THE ROLE IS ALL ABOUT!
Reporting to the Labour Foreman, the General Labourer is responsible for assisting the project team with a variety of tasks on the construction site. The role involves physical labour, operating light machinery, handling materials, all while maintaining high safety standards and contributing to a clean, organized, and safe job site. This role is on a rotational schedule where camp accommodations and meals are provided.
ESSENTIAL CONTRIBUTIONS WE NEED FROM YOU!
- Must be able to pass a Drug & Alcohol screening and Criminal Background Check.
- Provide labour support to other workers as needed or as assigned by supervisors.
- Peform physically demanding work including lifting, shoveling, carrying materials, and working in uneven terrain.
- Load and unload materials from trucks both manually and with the use of equipment.
- Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling materials and storing them properly.
- Perform general maintenance and cleaning of the construction job site, equipment, and vehicles.
- Operate and monitor diesel and submersible pumps for water management and site drainage.
- Assist equipment operators, pipefitters, and other trades as required.
- Conduct routine inspection and maintenance of tools, pumps, hoses, generators, and other job site equipment.
- Operate light-duty vehicles such as pickup trucks, zoom booms, skidsteers as needed.
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU A POSITIVE IMPACT?
- Previous experience in construction is an asset but not required; training will be provided.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License will be considered an asset.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing for long periods of time and lifting heavy loads.
- Experience with concrete duties such as formwork, placing, finishing, and curing of concrete with be considered an asset.
- Experience with HDPE pipe installation for water, sewer, and dewatering systems will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of basic construction site safety practices and the ability to follow safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and remote camp environments.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written will be considered an asset.
