Job Overview
RAStudios is seeking a professional, personable, and art-minded Art Gallery Associate / Graphic Designer to oversee the day-to-day operations of our gallery. This hybrid role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, has a strong interest in art and art history, and is comfortable combining customer service, sales, administration, and basic digital/creative tasks.
The successful candidate will welcome visitors, provide engaging gallery tours, support art sales, assist with administrative duties, and help maintain the overall presentation and professionalism of the gallery. Experience with selling artwork, using Photoshop, and speaking confidently about art and artists is highly valued.
This position requires someone who is organized, reliable, flexible, and comfortable representing the gallery in a warm, polished, and professional manner.
Duties
- Welcome gallery visitors and provide a professional, friendly customer experience.
- Give tours of the gallery and speak knowledgeably about artwork, artists, techniques, and art history.
- Support the sale of original artwork, prints, and other gallery items.
- Answer customer questions in person, by phone, and by email.
- Assist with gallery administration, including records, inventory, appointments, and general office tasks.
- Help maintain the gallery’s visual presentation, cleanliness, and overall atmosphere.
- Assist with photographing or preparing artwork for digital use as needed.
- Use Photoshop for creating mockups, image editing, resizing, and preparation of artwork images.
- Support website updates, artwork listings, descriptions, and online presentation.
- Assist with organizing gallery events, exhibitions, openings, and special visitor days.
- Help coordinate sales, packaging, client follow-up, and customer service.
- Ensure the gallery is professionally presented at all times.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in an art gallery, museum, retail art environment, or creative business is preferred.
- Experience selling artwork, or high-end retail items is an asset.
- Strong interest in art, artists, art history, and visual culture.
- Ability to speak confidently and engagingly with visitors and clients.
- Basic Photoshop skills are required.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Professional appearance and polished interpersonal manner.
- Comfortable working independently and taking initiative.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience with websites, online listings, or digital content is an asset.
- Flexibility to adjust working hours during busy cruise ship days, special events, or gallery openings.
